Alexandra is a born storyteller and multi-award-winning screenwriter, director and independent filmmaker. A dual Canadian Dutch citizen, she considers herself a third culture kid. She studied film in Sweden and began her career directing commercials and music videos. After Sweden, she moved to Toronto where she was a finalist in the Saatchi & Saatchi First Cut Awards for best new directorial talent. Alex’s curiosity of the human condition and search for ecstatic truth gives her an emotive and unique voice as a director.
Most recently Alexandra wrote, directed and produced her second short film Salt – a 23 mins. film about the all-too-common problem of drug facialitated sexual assault (DFSA) told from the female gaze. Salt stars UK talents Nadia Parkes and Freddie Dennis and was selected and screened at the LA Femme International Film Festival in 2024. Her debut short film Blue Hour (self-written, directed and produced) was a semifinalist at the Academy qualifying Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival in 2022.
Currently, Alex is writing a new TV series in the prestigious Stowe Story Labs, preparing to pitch in 2025. Alex’s feature screenplay Redacted was among the top 10% of all entries in the Academy Nicholl Fellowship competition 2023 and was a finalist in The Golden Script Competition 2023.
Alex’s children’s book Rafa Was My Robot is internationally published and her memoir Unfold Your Soul was awarded the CA Award of Excellence for her work on the cover art.
Alex is a passionate skier, lover of dogs and all things aquatic. She’s multilingual and can work in English, Swedish, Spanish, and French. She holds both Canadian and European passports and splits her time between Toronto and Stockholm.
