“‘Blue Hour’ is a short drama film that delves into the COVID-19 pandemic from the perspective of a teenage boy. Alexandra has created a remarkable film that is constructed with narrative and technical excellence. Theo Martinez delivers a profoundly moving performance from start-to-finish – a rising star destined for greatness. ‘Blue Hour’ is a startling watch with an eerie apocalyptic tone. Despite its sorrowful narrative, the film is deeply poetic with climbing hope throughout. A poignant tale that is certain to evoke audience recollection.”

Director’s Statement
Blue Hour is a reflective film about the pandemic. I set out to tell a story I knew would be a universal one, except this one is told from the perspective of a fifteen-year-old boy. The experience I most wanted to convey in the film was a sense of aloneness and disconnect, a world gone quiet with a glimmer of hope. I had access to one teenage boy, one DOP and one camera, and while this film is short in duration and funds, I did not approach it as such. I had an opportunity to tell this story once and I wanted it to be authentic and heartfelt.
In post-production, I was fortunate to work with people from Sweden, Iceland, the UK, and Mexico, straight and transgender, twenty-something and others heading into retirement. Many thanks again, I am so grateful to you all for contributing your skills and time gratis on this project.
